The building

The building is around 100 years old. It was originally a bank on the first floor with bank offices on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Now, there are apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors above store fronts.

The building has some real neat architectual details. (more…)

What a Mess!

There is still a ton of work to do before we can open In February. The space is starting to look pretty nice and the work crew are extremely committed to getting everything finished up by February 1st. I thought I was going to have to do the floor painting myself, but “Big Ron” (my building superintendent) has graciously offered to do the floors for me. I wasn’t expecting him to go that extra mile. He already had a full plate just getting the walls & ceiling finished… not to mention that he needs to keep the rest of the building in working order on a normal basis. So far, things are progressing rather smoothly. The walls are patched and painted. The floor is repaired, sanded and painting is happening throughout the week. I’ll post some updated pics later this week.

Quick Update… here’s a picture taken this morning…

partially painted

A couple things to note about the brick wall.

1) The pipes in the middle of the wall will be boxed in. That was being done this afternoon.

2) Note the dark stain on the brick wall. There’s a leak in the roof and the snow melt is trickling down the brick. Some might call this a “water feature”. I’ll be happy when I can call it “gone”.

Hopefully, more pics-o-progress tomorrow!
