November 11th, 2009

toys-for-tots
There are lots of ways we can all help to bring happiness to those in need during the holidays.  Neverland Games provides the gift of smiles by way of games and puzzles.  We would like to team up with all of you to provide as many smiles as possible to those in need.  Neverland Games is proud to provide a Toys for Tots donation box inside our store.  I would love to see this box fill with games and puzzles several times over!  With your help, we can weigh down Santa with more games and puzzles than he ever expected.

2nd Annual Neverland Games Halloween Party

October 16th, 2009

It’s that time of year again.  Time to dust off our Halloween costumes, eat way more candy than we really should & play some great games with our family and friends.

We’ll be getting together for our 2nd annual Halloween party on Saturday evening, October 31st., from 6pm until 10pm.  We have prizes for the best Halloween costumes, door prizes and some vampire & zombie trivia prizes.  Prizes include store gift certificates, movie passes for Waynesboro Theater plus a neat selection of games & game accessories.

You should plan to bring a potluck dish that can serve 6 to 8 people.  As people RSVP & let us know what they plan to bring, I will update the potluck list on the website so others can plan accordingly.  Our space is limited so we are only allowing for 32 people.  Please let us know as soon as possible how many will be in your party and what you plan to bring for the potluck.

Last year was great fun.  This year we plan to have that much more!

We *almost* have a finished sidewalk

October 8th, 2009

Sidewalk Construction Woes

September 29th, 2009

constructionWe have no sidewalk outside our front door at the moment.  While the construction is going on outside our front door this week, we will be not be open until 5pm.  You will be able to access the store through the back door when we are open for business.  Also, it’s worth noting that free parking is always available in the Rotary parking lot which is located between 1st and 2nd street via the ally way behind Susquehanna bank.

So, all week night events are running as usual… demo game nights on Tuesdays, casual M:TG and Heroscape on Wednesdays, RPG’s and board game group meet-ups on Thursdays and Friday Night Magic (actually, we are doing the Zendikar release party this week) as usual.  Weekends remain unaffected, other than store entry points.

Be brave and stop in soon!

Vintage Gaming: RPG Summer Camp at Shippensburg University (1981-1985)

September 28th, 2009
Shippensburg RPG Camp, 1982

Shippensburg RPG Camp, 1982

I stumbled upon this article about a Dungeons & Dragons summer camp that was held at Shippensburg University from 1981 through 1985.  The camps were open to ages 10-17, but mostly atracted 13 & 14 yr olds.  The author interviewed one of the campers about his experience.

Should we run summer game camps for kids next year?  Would you like to help make it happen?  Let us know!
